World Abilitysport launches 2025 #PlayClean campaign on Play True Day

11/04/2025

World Abilitysport has launched its annual #PlayClean campaign to mark Play True Day on 11 April.

The world’s leading body for the development and promotion of sport for athletes with physical disabilities proudly joins the World Anti-Doping Agency’s global Play True Day campaign, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to Clean Sport. This annual initiative raises awareness about the importance of fair play and ethical sporting practices across its community.

Backed by Members, World Abilitysport plays a pivotal role in promoting clean sport as both a Major Event Organiser through its extensive youth and senior Games programme and as an International Federation for World Para Fencing, World Para Dance Sport and International Powerchair Hockey.

In alignment with WADA’s standards, World Abilitysport launched its 2024 clean sport campaign on Play True Day last year—an important step in educating athletes, coaches, and support personnel about anti-doping regulations, values, and the long-term impact of clean competition.

This year, World Abilitysport are excited to announce the second edition of its anti-doping awareness programme, designed to deepen its athlete-centred approach and strengthen the culture of clean, ethical, and fair sport across all levels.

The priorities for 2025 include:

  • Information: Sharing accurate, up-to-date content on anti-doping practices, promoting a culture rooted in transparency, fair play, and integrity.
  • Education: Empowering athletes through engaging educational resources, encouraging healthy choices, and supporting sustainable athletic careers.
  • Visibility: Elevating conversations around clean sport by showcasing its positive impact and advocating for a doping-free athletic environment.
  • Leadership: Positioning as a global role model, proactively addressing anti-doping issues and setting high ethical standards.
  • Awareness: Creating space for athletes to lead discussions on the dangers of doping, its physical and psychological consequences, and the ethical implications for sport and society.

To ensure widespread reach and impact, World Abilitysport will continue to share anti-doping information, education and resources through a series of online and in-person seminars and its comprehensive website and social media content for athletes, coaches and support personnel. Adding to the video series from 2024 on the basics of clean sport, World Abilitysport will be publishing new videos featuring expert advice and athlete experiences as well as introducing a dedicated Whatsapp channel for direct communication and sharing interviews with athletes and anti-doping professionals.

In addition, outreach will take place at event such as the World Abilitysport Games in Jakarta, Indonesia and the World Abilitysport Beach Games in Mersin, Türkiye.

On Play True Day, World Abilitysport reaffirms its commitment to clean sport. Athletes, coaches and support personnel can join the fun by taking part in the #PlayTrueChallenge.
