First World Abilitysport Beach Games Awarded the 2025 Beach ParaVolley World Championships

The 2025 World Abilitysport Beach Games to be held from 18-25 October 2025 in Mersin, Türkiye will host the World Championships of the standing discipline of beach ParaVolley.
The 2025 Beach ParaVolley World Championships have been awarded to the Local Organising Committee of the 2025 World Abilitysport Beach Games and the city of Mersin, Türkiye.
The Games will mark the first Para sport event exclusively for beach, aquatic and open-air disciplines and will be held along the picturesque 116km of Mersin coastline from 18-25 October 2025.
President of NPC Türkiye and the Local Organising Committee, Murat Aksu said, ‘On behalf of the Local Organising Committee and the city of Mersin, we are delighted to be awarded the 2025 Beach ParaVolley World Championships.”
“We are committed to ensuring these Games leave a legacy and we are excited to be building a bespoke beach ParaVolley venue in the city to be used for the first time at the Games, that can then be used by Para athletes for many years to come.”
The inclusion of the standing discipline of beach ParaVolley at the first World Abilitysport Beach Games marks the start of active cooperation following the renewed signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between World Abilitysport and World ParaVolley in October 2023.
David Cox, Assistant Sport Director of Beach ParaVolley said of the award, “This is an awesome opportunity for all of our athletes and for the sport of Beach ParaVolley. Being able to host the World Championships in Türkiye, with both World Abilitysport and NPC Türkiye as partners, will guarantee the best possible conditions for a successful Championships.”
Education and classification opportunities are a priority of World Abilitysport, the LOC and World ParaVolley and therefore classification opportunities will be available at the Games and the possibility for referee education is being explored.
World ParaVolley have opened their ‘expression of interest’ to their Members with a deadline of 30 April.
The full sports programme will be announced in the coming months ahead of entries to the Games opening in May.
