New Host City for 2024 World Abilitysport Youth Games

24/10/2024

Nakhon Ratchasima will now play host to the 2024 World Abilitysport Games with athletics, swimming, boccia, powerlifting and table tennis on the programme.

The host city of the 2024 World Abilitysport Youth Games has been moved from the originally announced Hat Yai, Songkhla Province to Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The move came as a result of a number of unforeseen logistical challenges and circumstances that were impacting the viability of the Games. The move to the familiar venues and infrastructure from the 2023 World Abilitysport Games made the move to Nakhon Ratchasima the ideal solution.

World Abilitysport CEO, Charmaine Hooper said, ‘It is never the plan to change host city at such a late stage but the decision was taken with the athlete experience and comfort at the forefront of our planning. The response from members has been nothing but positive and as always, we thank the World Abilitysport family for their support.’

All sports will now be hosted at the same venue, His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Stadium, with familiar venues, the Chatchai and Liptapanlop Hall proposed to play host to table tennis and boccia. The Main Stadium and Aquatics Centre will again host athletics and swimming while powerlifting will be held in the 80th Birthday Stadium Auditorium.

Entries close on Friday 25th October for what is set to be the inaugural Youth Games for World Abilitysport.
